Grip-Tec sponsors Pen Mill Ladies FC

Grip-Tec are proud to announce that we have sponsored Pen Mill Ladies FC for both the 2024/25 season and the upcoming 2025/26 season. Pen mill ladies was founded in 2008, since then they’ve faced demotion, promotion and everything in-between.

From 2013 until 2016, they remained steady in the middle of the Somerset County Women’s League, just missing out on promotion in the 2016/2017 season, finishing second in the table. After being so close, Pen Mill Ladies wouldn’t settle for anything less than first place. Setting their sights on promotion early in the season, they came out fighting from day one and topped the table, finally gaining the promotion to the Regional Women’s Football League, which was so well deserved.

Whilst maintaining in this league for two seasons, unfortunately covid struck, bringing a lull to the sporting industry. Pen Mill Ladies played the least amount of games out of everyone in the league. This ultimately resulted in demotion, back to the Somerset County Women’s League.

Springing back into footballing action in the 2021/2022 season, Pen Mill skyrocketed to the top of the table. They maintained this top position for the 2022/2023 season, being offered promotion. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Pen Mill Ladies first and reserves team had to merge for the upcoming 2023/24 season.

Starting from the bottom of division 3 in the Somerset County Women’s League, Pen Mill gallantly fought their way to regain promotion. After a strong and promising pre-season, Pen Mill Ladies firsts and reserves were re-established as individual teams.

Starting strong out of the blocks, Pen Mill Ladies First Team gave everything they had, leaving their all out on the field. The season drew towards the end and it all came down to the final day. The last dance! Pen Mill winning their game, the title was within reach, but reliant on one other final result. As the whistle blew at 4pm on the 25th May 2025, Pen Mill’s title dream came true. They were the league winners.

Their first season as a re-instated team and they are back on the ladder.

This is just the beginning of Pen Mill Ladies as you know it.

  • Whilst considering the purchase of a new Mazak VRX i300AWC 5 axis machining centre with 32 pallets, we looked at various options for work holding, and one option was purchasing “5th Axis” self centering vices through Grip-Tec. After viewing these vices in situ at another company, and then getting a sample sent for evaluation from Jason Short of Grip-Tec, we felt that these vices were the best marriage between the machine tool and work holding, that would best suit our production. We then proceeded to purchase 32 off V562X (5th Axis) vices supplied by Grip-Tec, which completed our machine installation. We felt that these vices gave us the security and flexibility that we require from our work holding and this also complemented our new Mazak VRX i300AWC very well. The communication with Jason and Kate from Grip-Tec was excellent and continues to be so. All promised delivery dates and quality has not only met but superseded expectations.
