31.08.25
Pen Mill Ladies travelled to Archie Gooch Pavilion, Ilminster to face Cheddar Women’s FC to play in the Battens Community Plate final.
Pen Mill Ladies lifted the Battens community plate in style on Sunday after powering to a 5–2 win over Cheddar Ladies in a thrilling final.
The match burst into life early on when Cheddar scored early on. Pen Mill didn’t let this get to them, a tackle near the half way line lead to Rosie stepping up and taking an excellent free kick that dropped just below the crossbar levelling the score.
Half-Time 1-1
Pen Mill came out firing in the second half. Mia managed to push Pen Mill back into the lead latching onto a clever through ball before slotting past the keeper. Kayleigh restored the two-goal cushion with a superb strike, and Maddie added a fourth to put Pen Mill firmly in control.
As the game entered its closing stages, Cheddar found a second goal, but there was no denying Pen Mill their moment. Rosie capped off a brilliant team display with her second of the afternoon – and her team’s fifth – to seal a memorable 5–2 victory.
Captain Leonie proudly lifted the Battens community plate at the final whistle, sparking jubilant celebrations among players, staff, and supporters. We praised the squad’s efforts:
“This team has worked tirelessly all season, and today they showed exactly what they’re capable of. Five goals in a final speaks volumes about the talent and togetherness in this squad.”
The win not only secures silverware for Pen Mill Ladies but also cements their status as one of the region’s most exciting teams. With confidence soaring, they’ll now turn their attention to their league campaign.
